enabling women to achieve economic independence

impact on artisans

creation units in mysore and gumballi

We employ over 260 women across our two creation units in South India. We offer bright and airy workspaces that also serve as community hubs where women can feel safe and supported.

The original Mysore unit opened in 2009 with just 9 women.  Today our new unit employs almost 160 women and 12 men and covers 20,000 sq ft spread over two floors. Our eco-ink screen printing and modern cutting facilities are housed in this unit.

Our second unit is in rural Gumbali and employs almost 60 women from agricultural backgrounds. It is affectionately known as our ‘chocolate box’ as its exterior is painted in our rich brown brand colour.

Both units are decorated with reclaimed traditional furniture, re-purposed soft furnishings, and recycled workstations. The spaces are solar powered and harvest rainwater for  consumption.

We also support another 4 rural units, providing economic stability for another 200 people.

support for our artisans

We foster a work environment that is nurturing, positive and supportive, putting the holistic well-being of our artisans first.

Life for women in rural India can be challenging, and many have faced real hardship. Our mission is to provide them with the tools they need to thrive independently. Our in-depth technical training enables them to craft our product to a high standard, with confidence and pride.  We also arrange for health workers to counsel and support them around areas such as domestic abuse,  menstrual and mental health.  Our aim is to bring them joy at work with a strong sense of community.
